I can’t believe it’s June 1st already. Where has the first half of the year gone? Here in Mexico we’ve had a heat wave for the past couple of weeks. Fortunately today it’s only 58 degrees and summer is just around the corner. That means a lot of rain and therefore cooler days. Even though Mexico City is below the Tropic of Cancer the altitude is about 7350 feet above sea level which makes us have some amazing weather.
Winters can be a little chilly with temperatures reaching the lower 30s some mornings. Summers are cool because it is our rainy season. It rains every afternoon which brings temperatures down and nights are cool. Falls are the best, with cool temperatures and dry evenings. But spring is always the hottest season of the year. May is our hottest month reaching up to 90 degrees with high humidity levels some days.
That’s why I’ve had ice cream on my mind. I don’t have an ice cream machine here in Mexico, but I have a couple of good recipes I want to share with you to keep you cool this upcoming summer. I heard in some parts of the States the temps are reaching 100 degrees with high humidity levels. That’s one thing I don’t miss from Ohio! Anyway here are the links to past ice cream recipes. A friend shared the video at the bottom for people who don’t have ice cream makers. Pretty funny technique but it might work!
I think this summer will be very good for my cooking and my life in general (unlike the last one, hehe) Are you ready for Summer 2011?
