Examining tomatillos

Ben grew up surrounded by food. His family owned a restaurant in Mexico City for about 40 years and some of his most cherished memories from that period of his life are related to food. These aromas, flavors and colors of the food stayed with him even when he moved a couple of thousand miles away to the U.S. He created this blog in 2007 to share his kitchen adventures, but overtime it became a lot more personal reconnecting him with his roots and culture. He started cooking authentic Mexican food in his American kitchen, and realized that Mexican food is very misunderstood in the U.S.

Returning to Mexico in August 2010, he has been rediscovering the culture and food of his native country and sharing on this blog what has been cited by UNESCO as a world intangible cultural heritage. He has discovered a passion for Mexico and its food that he didn’t know he had before and he’s been connecting with a lot of people who have the same passion. He wants to be part of the movement that will reshape the future of his country through culture, food and education.

The purpose of this blog is to showcase through his writing and the lens of his camera the Mexico that the news organizations refuse to show. The side of his country that attracts so many people each year to visit and move there.

Welcome to this magical country, to a Mexico full of color, music, laughter, traditions, history and delicious food.

Welcome to Mexico and Buen Provecho!
