  5. I made homemade chili powder American-style chili last week and when I opened my bags of dried chiles, I almost gasped in ecstasy because they smelled so heavenly. There is just nothing like that rich, pungent smell to make me appreciate Mexican food, Mexican life, Mexican culture.
