Christmas is gone, and now it’s time to start thinking about resolutions, plans and projects for the new year. But before I start doing that, I want to share with you some of the food I enjoyed this season. This is not all the food I ate or the traditional food prepared in Mexico for Christmas, I’m still settling down and my apartment’s kitchen is not apt for cooking or baking, but next year I hope I’m able to cook and bake more of the traditional food of the season. Let’s start with some pictures I took at my friend Michael’s Christmas party. It was so much fun and the food was delicious:
My family doesn’t celebrate Christmas. However, I told them I was going to make a “special” dinner on Christmas Eve. In Mexico it’s a tradition to have a big dinner on Christmas Eve around midnight to receive Christmas. What I made wasn’t very big or fancy, but I really enjoyed cooking for them and had a great time at their house eating and watching movies. The menu was:
- Eggplant rolls
- Mexican bruschettas
- Apple and pineapple salad
- Turkey breast in prune sauce
- Yule Log
- Hard cider
- Noche Buena beer
I really couldn’t take many pictures of what I made. When I cook dinners like this I need to hire a photographer, hehe, but here are two so you see a little bit of how things went:

I have many and being here in Mexico has opened a lot of possibilities for my blogging life. Some of the plans and resolutions I have for the new year that concern this blog are:
- Start a new series of posts about markets in Mexico, their food and how to emulate it easily at home.
- Be more active in the blogosphere. This has been difficult because of the job I had and the time I was spending commuting.
- Join some of the local cooking and food groups of the city, like Slow Food.
- Take a course or two on traditional Mexican cooking, I’m even thinking about culinary school, but that will be in the future.
2011 will be a better year, I can feel that. So I wish you all a happy and delicious New Year and Buen Provecho!
