AAAAARRGGH! I do hate these meme things. I hated the e-mail version of them, I hated the regular mail version of them and I hated the kid’s version, too (you know, the one where one kid chases others to “tag” them)
I realize I sound bitter, but I am not. I don’t hate the part of getting to know other people. I think that is really cool. What I hate is the part where I have to talk about myself. But I am going to do it now anyway because Heather, I will get back to you somehow (insert evil and vengeful smiley here), is cool and she has some really cool music on her blog. Paranoid android and hurdy gurdy man won me over.
I am going to bend the rules a little. I am a bad player, I know, but there’s nothing you can do about it. I am supposed to write 5 things you (assuming the majority of my readers) don’t already know so without anymore grumbling here I go:
- I am a very quiet and private person. Maybe that is kind of obvious after reading the first two paragraphs of this post. I have always been that way. I rarely got along with other kids when I was little and most of the time I ended up playing by myself. My mom always said that what I needed was a brother, but I don’t think that would’ve helped.
- I grew up in a very religious family. My parents are Jehovah’s witnesses and I grew up going to church 3 times a week and preaching every weekend for at least 2 hours. Being part of an America religion was very difficult in a country where 98% of the population is Catholic. Maybe that’s part of why I am so quiet now. Who knows?
- I love to read. I will always be thankful to my parents because they made me read everyday. It was always the Bible or their Bible literature, but that made me love books. Now I read about 50 to 60 books a year. I’d love to read more but there is not enough time in a day. Fantasy is my favorite genre (I read the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings once a year) but I read almost anything, classic fiction, modern American fiction, politics, science, world history, American history (another one of my favorite genres) and cookbooks, of course.
- I want to be a writer. Or I want to get paid for writing. I have written several short stories and I have a couple of other big projects that I’d like to finish. One of my goals for this year is to spend more time in at least one of them. I also want to write about food. My dream job would be to travel around the world writing about other countries food and the traditions around it. I am not afraid of trying new and exotic foods. One of the reasons I started this blog was to write about Mexican food and its traditions so it would be really cool if I could do the same with other kinds of food.
- I have a daughter. Her name is Lucy and she is the most annoying cat I’ve ever had. She is some kind of mix between domestic cat and Javanese cat. She is really pretty, but I read Javanese cats are really needy. She follows me around the house ALL the time and she has been either on my lap or right next to me for each post I’ve written on this blog. Even though she is annoying and loud I love her to pieces. I got her in Mexico City and she has travel quite a lot. I couldn’t leave her behind, even though it cost me $100 dollars to get her in the plane with me. We spend so much time together that we know each other’s daily routine pretty well. If I don’t get up at exactly the same time I do every morning she jumps on me and starts crying until I get up. She is that annoying! Here are some pictures of her:
She got into the toilet and we had to give her a bath, she was just a baby then.
She’s always believe she’s some kind of Egyptian queen

or some kind of super model

Here she is with some friends in my mom’s (in law) house in Circleville, Ohio
Now, here is where I break the rules. I am supposed to tag 5 people to continue this meme, but I really hate doing this. So Heather please forgive me, but I am going to leave this as an open invitation to whoever wants to come forward and tell us 5 things about themselves. It is not that bad. I survived, didn’t I? Now my question is, if I get tagged again, can I just used this same post over and over again? I am a cheater, I know.

Michelle
It’s so nice to learn a little more about you, Ben! And Lucy’s a pretty baby!
Heather
Oh man sorry it took me so long to see this – I’m glad someone hates these as much as me! And you are so sweet to play along for the sole reason that you like my musical tastes! ^_^
I love your sweet lil’ kitteh. We have four and they’re the fattest little men you have ever seen.
I strongly encouraged people to stop the meme nonsense and you met me halfway. Good on you for being a rebel! From you, I expected nothing less.
Ben
Hi Courtney!
This memes can be fun, but when you “have” to talk about yourself on demand can be annoying. Hehehe
Hi Hichelle!
Thanks
I guess I need to be so shy and talk more about myself. And yes, Lucy is pretty, but she is so annoying sometimes. It’s all my fault she is spoiled.
Hiya Heather!
Yes, we need to stop this nonsense right now! Hehehe, but I must admit it is kinda fun at the end and you get to know people better, right? So I am glad you tagged me after all :p
